I've been playing around tortured existance for a while and I think there's a solid control shell here.
I don't think transmute has what we want here to be honest. Since TE only allows us to manipulate creatures, we really only want to look at transmute creatures and they don't look too impressive (both as bombs and as tutor tools). The two that stand out are Dimir Infiltrator and drift of phantasms. But they only get you 2 and 3 drops which is good but i can't think of too many 2-3 mana spells I'd want to tutor up.As for the skeleton I think it's effect is cool but might be redundant since we can always get it back with TE.What exactly were you thinking fox?.
It was drift and infiltrator that really stood out. I think the skeleton is a cool way the get things back to 're transmute, but it's very mana intensive. Dimir house guard also allows us to cover 4 cmc spells like evincar's justice.Yeah, the real problem is what to tutor at those cmc levels.
I think buyback singletons are the way to go, but capsize and evincars don't make a deck outright. Not too sure:(Edit: I think is the way to go, with creatures of value used as spells like mulldrifter and mournwhelkBrush with death and disturbed burial would also like to be singletons in a tutor based deck:).

I was playing against TE this evening and I realized where this card will be useful in the deck.Sometimes you'll be hellbent in a protracted game, and you'll be drawing to TE.
Let's say you have a dredger in the yard. Against some decks, the turn you draw your TE, you just slam it, and dredge next turn and you can start doing the broken things that it does. Against decks with disenchant effects, you hold it, dredge next turn, then play the TE.(In this particular game I was playing a BW deck with discard and also disenchant effects - so my opponent did not have an optimal line no matter what they did)Either way, in this situation, you aren't getting any value from the TE that you just drew on the turn you draw it. You can hold creatures in your hand, but sometimes you'll just need to deploy your creatures - or you'll need to play around chittering rats and holding that rootwalla or brownscale or whatever isn't an option. With the skeleton in the yard however, you'll be able to play the TE and return the skeleton to get value all on the same turn. granted this does take some mana, but at least you can get some value even if they blow up the TE or your graveyard that turn. Also, just looking at the art, this guy is definitely related to the skeleton in the Dungeon of the TE art -could even be the same skeleton honestly:) Flavor win. This card is is pretty amazing - I can't believe it's a 1 mana 1/2 that can block! I'm not sure if it's more than a 1 of, this depends on how relevant the body end up being. A subtle card, to be sure.
The key here is exploiting the skeleton's omnipresence. Mill is essentially a way to 'draw' it and turn it into an option, should you have the mana. It can be pitched to discard effects without suffering any real loss. And, let us not forget, that it can be equipped and enchanted.Yes, it's potentially four mana for a 1/2 from your graveyard, but the fact that it is inexhaustible (barring graveyard hate) makes for a compelling case. Personally I think it will be solid in an equip brew since it is an independent graveyard resource in an archetype that doesn't bat an eye at graveyard hate.
